Moline, Illinois In addition to developing the first new machine form seen by the construction industry in decades with the all new 764 High-Speed Dozer, Deere has added several new product support offerings to its list of dozer innovations.
"Our commitment to the customer doesn't stop when a Deere dealership brings a new crawler to the jobsite," said Dan Drescher, product marketing manager of crawler dozers and crawler loaders for John Deere Construction & Forestry Division. "We provide the customer with support through the entire life of the machine, with products that increase productivity and uptime while lowering daily operating costs."
Deere is offering three new support products to help dozer owners get more production, life and profit out of their machines: A maximum life undercarriage, a "plug-and-play" Integrated Grade Control system and an ultrasonic measuring tool. The John Deere Maximum Life Undercarriage System is a balanced life undercarriage system that includes larger undercarriage components such as idlers, rollers and links for a longer wear life, along with improved bushings to link chain seals and match the longevity of the larger components.
"Our design goal for the max life undercarriage system is 4,500 hours, and that's in abrasive soil conditions," said Drescher. "But we're so sure that max life will perform over the long haul that we offer a Wear Assurance promise with up to 6,000 hours of coverage, depending on the application and soil conditions."
The larger, beefier components combine to improve performance and extend life. On the Deere 650J crawler, for example, the links are four percent taller and 22 percent wider and heavier.
Deere’s proven SC-2 bushings require one turn in a lifetime.
"Because everything about the max life undercarriage is more robust, it requires less planned servicing, so the machine will have more availability and be more productive," Drescher said. "Operators will also see a production increase in some pushing applications due to the additional weight, and they'll notice an ability to better handle severe conditions with a lower operating cost than a sealed and lubricated track."
The max life undercarriage is easy to service – only common undercarriage tools are necessary for repairs

Integrated Grade Control
John Deere now offers an optional “plug-and-play” Integrated Grade Control system for its crawler dozers. Dozers equipped with Integrated Grade Control are shipped from the factory with the hardware, software and wiring needed to support the operator’s electronic grade control system of choice.
An open architecture enables John Deere crawler dozers to operate software from the top aftermarket laser system providers. "Because this system is not an add-on and factory-sized hydraulic valves are tuned for the specific machine from the beginning, Deere products deliver faster response and enhanced performance," Drescher said. Installation is quicker, cleaner, highly reliable and less costly than retrofits, according to Drescher. "There's no guesswork as to whether the crawler will work with your favorite system," he added.
Hydraulic valves and hardware components installed at the factory will be covered under John Deere’s machine warranty. John Deere motor graders are also available with Integrated Grade Control.
Ultrasonic Tool
Measuring crawler undercarriage life has been a time consuming and inaccurate process for many customers. The John Deere Ultrasonic Undercarriage Measurement Tool is designed to help owners manage undercarriage wear and plan maintenance – and it fits in the palm of a hand.
This state-of-the-art lightweight tool makes undercarriage appraisals fast and easy, eliminating the need to carry pens, clipboard, calipers and depth gauges. The Ultrasonic Undercarriage Measurement Tool takes instant digital measurements by transmitting sound into material.
