Washington, DC - The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) encourages members to participate in the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm and Ranch Irrigation Survey. The information gathered will aid in the development of improved technology, better equipment, more efficient water use practices and sound programs and policies.

“Just as we do with the USDA’s Census of Agriculture, we encourage our growers who are sent surveys to take part in this effort when the form arrives,” said NCGA President Bob Dickey. “It’s important for our voices to be heard and for the USDA to have an accurate picture of what’s happening on the farm.”

The USDA’s National Agriculture Statistics Service is mailing out 35,000 surveys to producers nationwide for their input. Completed surveys need to be returned by February 17 to be counted, and participation by those who are sent surveys is required by federal law.

The Irrigation Survey takes place every five years, following the USDA’s Census of Agriculture. Results from the Census will be released Feb. 4 and results from the Irrigation Survey will be released November 30.
